Obituary For Elaine Mary Macklin
On January 11, 2026, Elaine Mary Macklin (née Grant) passed away at the age of 94.
Elaine had a full and productive life. As a young woman, she taught school at Rio Grande and Elmworth. In 1950, she married her husband, George. The early years of their marriage were spent running a sawmill in the Monkman Pass area. Once the kids came along, they settled into full-time farming in Elmworth. She and George had many good years together, working side by side on the family farm.
Elaine was an active member of the Elmworth community for over fifty years. She belonged to various local clubs and enjoyed curling, doing crafts, and playing cards. In 2002, she moved to Beaverlodge and became an avid golfer for many seasons. All her life, Elaine really enjoyed visiting with her good friends and neighbours. Many cups of tea and coffee were served at her table. She will be missed.
Elaine is survived by her son, Kelvin (Kelly) Macklin; daughter Lois Macklin; son-in-law Richard Krygier; and sister Leona Longson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1999.
Interment at the Halcourt Cemetery will take place in the spring, at a date yet to be determined.
