On Friday, February 13, 2026, Effie Floretta Berg passed away at the age of 88 years.

Effie will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Donna Snisarenko, Wendy Breitkreutz, Tammie Fontaine, Gordon Berg, and Lana Abrey; 10 grandchildren: Nolan, Nicolle, Nadelle, Kevin, Ryan, Shayla, Jonathan, Matthew, Tristan, and Reese; 13 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Jacob, Rya, Tyler, Braden, Jordan, Sabryna, Leo, Kailey, Jameson, Mila, Xander, and a baby girl on the way; her sister, Joan Meredith; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Effie was predeceased by her mother, Fern Parker; six brothers: Wilbur, Melburn, Alvin, Gordon, Wimpy, and George; three sisters: Alma, Pat, and Blanche; and longtime client, Bernie Hodgson.

Effie was a woman of remarkable strength, with a sharp mind and the most compassionate heart. She took great pride in her work with the mentally handicapped and home care, even furthering her education in her senior years, achieving multiple certificates. Effie proudly grew and cultivated beautiful flower beds. For many years, she also grew and processed a large garden. Effie generously shared her knowledge and instilled great values in those she loved.

Family meant everything to Effie. She had a rare gift of making every grandchild and great-grandchild feel like they were the most important person in the world.

After retiring, Effie spent her time knitting and crocheting. She made every family member their own special blanket and gifted her famous dishcloths to friends and family far and wide. Effie’s favorite moments were the many visits with family enjoying a cup of coffee and, of course, Chinese food.

Effie will be forever loved, sadly missed, and always celebrated by her loved ones.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Bad Heart, Alberta.
