Obituary For Edith Margaret Pryke Moody

Edith Margaret Moody (nee Pryke) passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 91 years.

Edith was born February 6, 1929 on a farm near Lumsden, SK to Robert and Winnifred Pryke. Her family moved from Lumsden during the depression when she was only four years old to Daysland, AB. She lived there until she attended the University of Alberta to obtain her teaching certificate. She then decided to move north to teach because her mother was living in Dawson Creek, BC. She was offered a position with the East Smoky School #4198 in the Goodwin area starting in May 1948. Once there, she met and married Ernest Moody, a local boy, and lived the rest of her life there farming, raising her family, and teaching.

Edith leaves to mourn her four children: Kathy (Chris) Dana, Sandra Harrington, James (Cindy) Moody, and Glenn (Jennifer) Moody; nine grandchildren: Dale (Pam), Craig (Shannon), Jeff, Janet, Jason (Crystal), Colleen (Kyle), Josh (Caitlyn), Matthew, and Gauge; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.

Edith was predeceased by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, Ernest Moody, and son in law David Harrington.

Edith was a very active member in the community for many years. She loved to teach, golf, travel, play cards, knit, farm, and was a wonderful pianist.

She spent many years volunteering and on the board for the DeBolt and District Museum Society and Goodwin Social Club. She worked several years at Lefty’s Cafe making her delicious buns. Later in life she was involved with the DeBolt, Bezanson, and Clairmont Seniors Centres. She will be sadly missed by her many friends, former students, and large extended family.

A service will be held at a later date.
