Obituary For Dwight Wade Goodvin

It is with great sadness that we lost our beloved family member, Dwight Wade Goodvin, on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Grovedale, AB, at the age of 61 years.

Dwight was the third child of Irvine and Vivian Goodvin, born December 3, 1962, in Prince George, BC, where they lived in numerous places before moving to the Peace Country.

Dwight resided in Grovedale for 35 years with his wife Corrine, and raised their three boys Tyson, Sheldon, and Devon. He worked in the logging and construction industry. Most recently for the MD of Greenview as a contracted Foreman. Throughout the years, he became the ultimate handyman. He could fix or troubleshoot anything. If he couldn’t fix it, it was tossed, beaten, kicked, or thrown, and in the process he usually managed to lose some skin or cut himself.

Dwight’s great loves were music and family. Their home was always full of laughter and music, tunes on the TV, songs on the radio, guitars being played in the living room or around a campfire. His love of music with family, friends, or the outdoors completed his happy place. He was an avid Oiler’s hockey fan, even if it was rigged! You could often find him playing darts or poker with his friends, and partaking in the odd social.

Dwight had a huge heart, but it was also very broken. He battled and struggled for 10 years, and was scheduled for a pace maker on January 25. He died with a broken heart, and now broke Corrine’s too.

Dwight will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years Corrine Goodvin; children, Tyson (Matty), Sheldon (Stefanie), and Devon; grandchildren, Zac, Ember, Emma, Sloane and Steele; brothers Ron (Trish), and Dale (Marlene); brothers-in-law Ken, Dwayne (Annie), and Steven Potratz; stepbrother Greg (Diane) Goodvin;

mother-in-law Sharon Potratz; as well as many nieces, nephews, numerous extended family members, and friends

Dwight was predeceased by his parents Irvine and Vivian; sister Maureen; niece Cassandra; step-father Jim; step-mother Lilian; and father-in-law Ralph.

You are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life at the Grovedale Hall, on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00pm.

Memorial donations may be made to the Grovedale Fire Department (56361 Township Rd 695A, Grovedale, AB, T0H 1X0) or STARS (stars.ca/get-involved/ways-to-donate/).
