We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Dwayne Michael Johnson
Dwayne Michael Johnson passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 72 years.
Dwayne was born on April 1, 1953, in Rimbey, AB, to Earl and Anne Johnson. He was the middle child of three. At a young age, his family moved to the Grande Prairie area, where he resided for the remainder of his life.
On April 10, 1982, Dwayne married his best friend, Sandra Leitgeb. Together they built a beautiful life over 43 years of marriage. They raised two children: Brent (born November 16, 1983) and Crystal (born August 22, 1985). Dwayne was a devoted husband, father, and proud grandpa. His family was his pride and joy. He cherished time spent skiing, swimming, camping, fishing, traveling, and attending all his kids’ activities, creating countless treasured memories together.
Dwayne and Sandra owned and operated D.M.J. Hauling Ltd. for many years, building a successful trucking company that transported logs, asphalt, gravel, various highway hauls, and wood chips. In 2000, Dwayne retired from the trucking industry and began a new chapter with Ford, where he worked as a sales manager until retirement in 2013. Following retirement, Dwayne and Sandra moved to their lake property, where they enjoyed the peaceful lifestyle they had worked so hard to build.
Dwayne will be ever so missed and remembered by his wife, Sandra; his son, Brent (Kaylan), and grandsons Joel and Westin; his daughter, Crystal (James), and granddaughters Isabella and Oakleigh; as well as step-granddaughters Alexandra and Elise. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Carpenter and her son, William, and Joanne Harrison (Murray), and their sons, Sean (Eli) and Chris (April, and daughter Eleanor), as well as many other family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Anne Johnson; his grandparents, Peter and Elizabeth Wald, and Walter and Ida Johnson; and his beloved pets, Koko, Keelo, and Karma.
A celebration of life in Dwayne’s honor will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, Father’s Day weekend, at the family lake property. Come for the weekend or just the day; there is lots of room for campers. Further details and RSVP information will follow.
Donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation: The Sargent Family Kidney Care Centre (https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E351667QE&id=40). Dwayne’s care at this clinic was exceptional.
Dwayne’s strength, work ethic, loyalty, and deep love for his family will be remembered always.
