Dorothy “Rita” Seabrook

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Seabrook (van de Pol), loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Dorothy was a resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Stony Plain, AB. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Points West Hospice on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the age of 79.

She was a strong willed person with a heart of gold ready to help anyone who needed it. Her door was always open to family, friends, and neighbors. Coffee pot was always on and a snack to go with it. She loved baking so a plentiful supply of cookies was always readily available. Her table was always surrounded with company.

She loved her garden and flower bed and could be found outside tinkering in winter or summer. She loved crafting which kept her busy during winter months.

Born to Wilhelm and Mary van de Pol on December 23, 1935, followed by her siblings Terry, John, Joyce (Kay Maple), and Bert (Madeleine).

Dorothy “Rita” met Glen Seabrook and married in 1954. They had 6 children together Kelly (Trudy), Leonard, Darrell (Cathy), Barb (Chiro), Dale, and Glenda. 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents Wilhelm and Mary, son Leonard, son in-law Larry, grandson Johnathan, husband Glen, and son in-law Scott. She will be dearly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Hospice and Palliative Care Society (P.O. Box 21215 Grande Prairie, AB T8V 6W7).
