Obituary For Doris Rude

Doris Rude, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of La Glace, AB, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 86 years.

Doris was born July 25, 1930, in Sexsmith, AB, to parents Henry and Hannah Bekkerus. She was the youngest sister to Harvey, Mabel, Esther, and Lloyd. Doris lived her early years in Northfield District, on the family farm.

On December 31, 1947 she married Myron Rude. They started their family in La Glace, at which time Jerry, Lanny, Wade and Janice were born. In 1958 they moved to Fourth Creek, and while living there, Valerie and Blaine were born. In 1965 they returned to La Glace until they retired to Beaverlodge and Hythe.

Granny dedicated her life to her children, 16 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Granny loved doing ceramics, crocheting, and quilting but especially liked playing cards with family and friends.

She will be sadly missed by her sons: Jerry (Carol), Lanny (Pat), and Blaine (Fong); daughters: Janice (Tim) Warr and Valerie (Gordon) Smith; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by parents Hannah and Henry Bekkerus, husband Myron, son Wade, brothers Lloyd (Agnes) and Harvey (Dorphy), sisters Mabel (Ted) Hagen and Esther (Rudolph) Olson.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 2:00pm, at Calvary Lutheran Church in La Glace, AB.

Interment will be at Norden Cemetery. Lunch will follow in the church wing.

Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church (Box 204, La Glace, AB, T0H 2J0), or to a charity of one’s choice.
