Obituary For Doreen Dzaman Purves

On September 8, 2015 Doreen Purves of Grande Prairie passed away at the age of 86.

Doreen was born in High Prairie, Alberta on June 21, 1929 to Kathleen and Nicholas Dzaman. She attended school and grew up in Wembley where she met and married the love of her life Clifford Purves. Together they raised three children, Greg, Colleen, and Gary.

Doreen’s true passion in life was that of keeping her family and home, happy, clean and fed. She worked a variety of jobs from running the switchboard in Wembley to retail stores, to the plywood plant to managing hotels all over Alberta with Cliff. Her hobbies included: crafting (at which she excelled), crosswords, cards, and board games (especially with the grandchildren), fishing and camping.

She leaves behind Children: Greg (Sandy), Colleen (Dale) Pregitzer, Gary (Christine Friesen), Grandchildren: Nick (Michelle), Bill, Cody, Katie (Trevor), Chris (Jessica), Jaimie (Lee), Great Grandchildren: Shy, Corey, Ozzie, Charlie, Lyle, Kiana, and Jordan. Doreen is also survived by her sisters Betty Rautenstrauch and Margaret (Dennis) Westad.

She was predeceased by her husband Clifford Purves, brother Kenneth (Bud) and twin sister Eileen.

A Viewing will take place at 7:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB).

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB).

Memorial Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
