Obituary For Derek Richard Stewart
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Derek Stewart, a lifelong resident of Grande Prairie, who left us much too soon on April 24, 2025 at the age of 51.
Born and raised in the Grande Prairie and Beaverlodge area, Derek was deeply rooted in the community he called home. Known for his quick wit and one-of-a-kind sense of humor, Derek had a way of making people laugh, whether they wanted to or not. His jokes were sharp, often unexpected, and always 100% Derek. Not everyone appreciated his sense of humor, but those who did knew it came from a place of genuine warmth and unique perspective on life.
Derek will be remembered for his authenticity, his loyalty to those he cared about, and his ability to bring levity to even the most serious moments. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love and a few inside jokes that will never be forgotten.
He will be dearly missed by his wife and two kids, mother and mother-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, brother/sisters-in-law, step siblings, friends and anyone lucky enough to have shared a laugh with him along the way.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 3:00 – 4:30 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie)
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home.
Memorial Donations may be made to The Sargent Family Kidney Care Centre in Grande Prairie.
