Obituary For Delia Doreen Hopkins

It is with heavy hearts and much love that we mourn the passing of a remarkable woman, Dee Hopkins, on November 4, 2023, surrounded by her adoring family, at the age of 56 years.

Dee was born August 24, 1967, the beloved eldest child of Beulah and Gilbert Hiscock. In 1979, she moved to Grande Prairie, AB, where she would go on to create a legacy of love, kindness, and service.

Dee completed her High School education at St. Joe’s, and she soon became a well-known figure in the local business community. Her career included managing retail stores such as Walmart, Wholesale Sports, and, ultimately, finding her true calling at Goodwill Industries. Her work was a testament to her incredible work ethic, passion, and her desire to help others.

A true people person, Dee was known for her dedication to various charitable causes close to her heart. She had a deep commitment to making a positive impact in her community, and her loving spirit touched the lives of many.

In 1985, Dee married her sweetheart, Lee Hopkins, and their love story became a symbol of unwavering commitment and enduring love. Together, they were blessed with two children, Amanda and Ryan. Dee’s family was the center of her world, and any day she could spend with them was a cherished day. Her greatest joy in life came from her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and took immense pleasure in spoiling them with her love and attention.

Dee leaves behind a legacy of love and family who adored her, including her loving husband Lee; daughter Amanda (Frank Krizay) Hopkins; son Ryan (Breanne) Hopkins; mother Beulah Hiscock; brothers: Gilbert Hiscock, Darryl (Allison) Hiscock; and cherished grandchildren: Ashante, Izabella and Malcolm Krizay, McKinley, Logan and Lincoln Hopkins.

Dee is predeceased by her father Gilbert Hiscock; father-in-law Roy Hopkins; and mother-in-law Joan Hopkins.

A Celebration of Dee’s remarkable Life will be held on Friday, November 10, at 1:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

Dee’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her impact on the lives of many will continue to be felt, and her memory will serve as an inspiration for us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (11205 110 St Grande Prairie, Alberta, T8V 4B1) and Alberta Cancer Foundation (#701, 10123 99 St NW Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 3H1).
