Obituary For Debbie Elizabeth Lapointe

Debbie Elizabeth Lapointe, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Hawk Hills, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Prairie Lake Hospice, at the age of 50 years.

Debbie was born in Manning, AB. She was raised in Hawk Hills until age 5. She spent the remaining 45 years of her life in Grande Prairie and attended St. Joseph Catholic High School. Debbie’s first job was at a movie theatre. She also worked various retail jobs before working at Shoppers Drug Mart in Cobblestone for 15 years, making many incredibly close friends there. For 17 years she was also making personalized, wooden Christmas ornaments and snowman families to sell at local craft shows.

She was bubbly, friendly, and charming. She had a huge heart, was easy to love, she could sit and talk with anyone and brighten their day. Her giggling could be heard across a hall, and her smile touched people’s hearts.

She loved crafting, reading, going to the movies, playing games with her family (fiercely competitive), and gambling at the slot machines.

Debbie will be sadly missed by her husband Marcel Lapointe, and son Zachary Lapointe.

Debbie was predeceased by her father Hank Luiken, and nephew Kyle Sajtovich.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society (#204, 10134 97 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 7X6).

I absolutely looked forward to heading to Shoppers - working and having fun - whenever Debbie was there. Debbie showed me what to do, and helped me out when aspects of the job seemed tough. We had a Great time "chaperoning", at the movies. Loved cartoons. Miss you, my friend. My condolences to Marcel & Zachary.

My heart is broken to hear of Debbie's passing. Her light and her smile brightened anyone day who crossed her path. We had some great conversation and great laughs in the SDM stock room when I worked for Carlton Cards. I find myself looking for her every time I am in the store over the years. Thought and prayers to your co-workers, family and friends. Lorelei Hughes
