Obituary For David Vasil

David Alexander Vasil 32, of Wembley AB, formerly of Sherbrooke, NS, passed away on July 1, 2015.

Born on December 7, 1982, he was the youngest of four children to Sharon (Blenkhorn) and the late William Vasil, of Sherbrooke, NS.

David attended high school at St. Mary’s Academy in Sherbrooke, where he met some of his lifelong friends. David was a very kind hearted soul. He moved to Alberta where he was employed with Maximum Tank Truck Services Ltd. as a truck driver, a profession he was passionate about and where he ended up meeting his best friend and the love of his life, Christina Ketchum.

He had a passion for softball and anything motorized from a young age He thrived on horsepower and being in the outdoors. David was always on the move if he was not driving truck, he was on his bike, playing ball, or in the outdoors, and made a point of always being with family and friends. He loved his country life where he could hunt, fish and play hockey.

His dry sense of humour made his smile infectious. He had a zest for living life to the fullest. He was also a hard worker who loved his family and friends whole heartedly, doing whatever he could to lend a helping hand when needed. Although Alberta may have been his home, you can never take the Maritimer out of a person and David will always be known for his Maritimer heart.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his fiancée Chrisina Ketchum of Wembley; brothers Bill (Lynne) Vasil of Antigonish, NS; and Jimmy Vasil of New Glasgow, NS; sister Sherry Lynn of Halifax, NS; In-laws, Dave and Diana Ketchum, brother-in- laws Dheal Ketchum, Darcey Ketchum sister-in-law Becky Word, all of Wembley, AB, nieces Tara, Courtney and Lisa, Tayla and nephews Aaron, and Aiden.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Wembley Arena.

Memorial Donations may be made to Sherbrooke Ball field (send to family) or Kids Sport Grande Prairie (Box 851, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 3R5).
