Obituary For David “Dave” William Macauley
David “Dave” William Macauley, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Wembley, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 78 years.
Dave was born on July 19, 1947, at the Grande Prairie Municipal Hospital. He grew up on the Macauley farm in the Wembley area, began his education at Hermit Lake Elementary, and later graduated from Wembley High School. For 22 years, he faithfully served as a power engineer at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital. In 2012, he retired from his position.
He was a wonderful man, fun-loving, and always willing to help a friend. He was known to enjoy a good meal, a good book, and watching a good Oilers game.
Dave will be sadly missed by his children, Jan MacAuley (Robert Bates) and Derek (Miranda) Macauley; grandchildren Sebastian Macauley and Michael Macauley; sisters Donna Bailie, Barbara (Bob) Viravec, Erna (Don) Moon, Kathy (Gord) Hepner, Karen (Dave) Badger, and Brenda Macauley (John Dool); as well as many nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Rose; brother Kevin Macauley; father Ernest Macauley; and mother Edith Macauley.
The funeral service for Dave will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave) in Grande Prairie, AB (casual attire, please). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon at the Grande Prairie Legion #54 (9912 101 Ave). A private interment will be held at a later date.
