Obituary For David Allen Martel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Allen Martel, beloved husband, father, father in-law, brother in-law and uncle. David passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 75 years. He was born in Sexsmith, AB, on March 23, 1947, at Johanna's Maternity Home. David leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory: his wife Maggie; sons Cody (Amanda), and Kyle; grand-daughter Chloe Bouchard of Grande Prairie; special niece Tamara (Luke) Wegren of Sherwood Park, AB; sisters in-law: Bev Love, Evelyn Pealo, Jean (Dennis) Loewen, and Ruth (Dwayne) Waldo; brothers in-law: Ed (Shirley) Pealo, Lyall (Norma) Pealo, Gilbert (Marilyn) Pealo, Ken (Marie) Pealo, and Tom (Janet) Pealo; aunt Agnes Mettlewsky of Saskatoon, SK; uncle Arnold Deibert of Cold Lake, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Eli and Mary Martel; three brothers: Russ, Keith, and Rene; his grandparents Remi and Eva Martel, and Joseph and Barbara Deibert; brothers in­law Darrell Pealo and Norman Love: nieces Carla Love and Jackie Stewart; as well as nephew Quinton Pealo.

Special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Health Care providers at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 2:00pm, at Clarkson Hall at Evergreen Park in the County of Grande Prairie (55051 Township Rd 710, AB T8X 4A3).

Memorial Donations may be made in Memory of David Allen Martel at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation toward purchase of vital life­saving equipment (11205 - 110 Street, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 481).

    Thank you everyone for your kind word of comfort to our family. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and many who knew him over the years...it's hard to believe it's been a month since his passing. He was always happy and welcoming when we did meet, including BBQ for myself and others from Neptune when we were in town.     My deepest condolences to all ❤️ Dave was a wonderful long time friend of my dads. My dad had great respect for him and always enjoyed his company. I remember him as being a very kind man that was always smiling. I'm so sorry for the loss of such a great person to all those who knew and loved him.

We have known Dave since a young child , John went to school with him, I k ew his grandparents (Diebert) , his parents, his aunt Agnes and I have been friends since childhood to today .
