It is with heavy hearts and intense sadness that we, the family, announce the tragic and sudden passing of our beloved Darren Stephen McCarty.

On January 24, 2026, Darren was involved in a fatal snowmobile accident outside of Spirit River, AB. Darren was lifted into Christ’s arms at the age of 57.

Darren is survived by his loving parents, Roy and Denise McCarty; daughter Kyra (Tyler Daly); grandsons Levi, Jordan, and Riley Daly; sister Siri (Tracy Jarvis); nieces Stephanie (Andrew Aiton) and Tegan McCarty; nephew Connor McCarty; great-nieces and great-nephews Aurora, Preston, Andrew, Anastasia, and Alex Aiton; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Awaiting Darren’s arrival in heaven are his predeceased younger brother, Derrell, and nephew Kaelyn McCarty.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Spirit River Centennial Hall (4812-44 Ave, Spirit River). After the service, interment will be held at the Spirit River Cemetery (4403-4409 47 St), with a luncheon to follow back at the hall.

For those who cannot attend the service in person, it will be livestreamed. A livestream link will be available 5 minutes prior to the service.
