We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Darren Howard Haughian
Darren Haughian, resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the age of 66 years.
Darren was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Howard and Ivy Haughian. In 1962, the family moved north to Grande Prairie. In 1973, Howard and Ivy bought the farm that became D Double H Farm. Farming was in Darren’s blood from an early age. As a little boy, he would often ride along on farm equipment with his dad, Howard. When Darren grew older, he supplemented his farming aspirations with winter work, hauling and loading logs south of Grande Prairie. He dedicated his life to the success of D Double H Farm and spent 47 years growing grain crops.
On November 12, 1982, Darren married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Rynsburger. They spent 44 years raising a family and working through life side by side.
Darren was an incredibly driven and dedicated man, consistently rising to the challenges presented to him. He was a lifelong learner, mathematical and direct, while simultaneously bringing a smile, a laugh, or a song. Darren had a brilliant mind that shone throughout his schooling and served him throughout his farming career, allowing him to maintain all his own equipment. His lifelong love for fixing transformed from work to a beloved pastime, as he restored multiple pieces of antique farming equipment.
In his youth, Darren excelled at hockey and was already a natural leader. As an adult, he enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and providing opportunities for his family to enjoy life to the fullest. This included being a 4-H dad, taking the family boating, driving the sleigh, clearing the dugout for skating, building a dock for swimming, and generally ensuring the visions of his family came to life. A well-respected man, gone too soon.
Darren will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; his children, Lane (Victoria), Darci (Geoff), and Nicole (Kyal); his dearest grandchildren, Luka, Kenzie, Mya, Earl, Hunter, Rook, Kala, and Tori; his brothers, Monty (Shirley) Haughian and Wayne Broadhead; his sister, Lori (Doug) Haughian; and his sister-in-law, Glenda Haughian. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Yvonne Whittaker and Sharon Peters (Colin), as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Howard and Ivy Haughian; his brothers, Larry Broadhead and Barry Haughian; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Janny Rynsburger; brothers-in-law, Gary Rynsburger and Bob Whittaker; and sister-in-law, Joan Freed.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at People’s Church (11850-108 St, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8G5), with fellowship to follow. Interment will take place at a later date.
For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be livestreamed. The link will be available shortly before the service begins.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (https://www.heartandstroke.ca/), the Canadian Cancer Foundation (https://cancer.ca/en/), or the Alberta Cancer Foundation (https://albertacancer.ca/donate/).
