Obituary For Darlene McDermott

Darlene McDermott passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Darlene was born on August 14, 1948, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Jack and Anna Larson. She was raised there alongside her two older brothers, Ron and Dennis. Darlene attended McNally High School in Edmonton before marrying Henry McDermott in July 1966. Together they welcomed their first daughter, Maureen, in December 1966, followed by their second daughter, Tammy, in 1969. Darlene worked as a secretary at the Edmonton police station before relocating to Grande Prairie in 1972. There, she welcomed her third daughter, Erin, in 1976, and her son, Kevin, in 1979.

Darlene later became a dedicated school bus driver, a career she enjoyed for many years. It was during this chapter of her life that she met her partner, Carl Delorme, with whom she shared many happy years.

Darlene had a deep love for ceramics, sewing, crafting, baking, cooking, and, above all, spending time with her family. Her warmth, creativity, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her beloved spouse, Carl Delorme; her children, Tammy McDermott, Erin Haggitt (Jason), and Kevin McDermott; her son-in-law, Kalvin; grandchildren Nikita Wathen (Mathew), Natasha Stamp, Erika-Lynn Stamp (Iain Johnson), Andrew Humphries, Kaynaan Norman, Kalina Norman, Hunter Haggitt, and Jorja Haggitt; great-grandchildren Trinann Norman, Avery Johnson, Claire Johnson, and Emmett Wathen; along with extended family and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Anna Larson; her brothers, Ron Larson and Dennis Larson; and her daughter, Maureen Stamp.

The viewing was held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Cremation will be taking place.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca/).
