Obituary For Darlene Frances Warner

It is with heavy hearts the siblings (Audree, Edna, Ellen, Gerald, and Joanne), announce the peaceful passing of their eldest sister, Darlene Warner, on Friday, January 9, 2024.

Darlene was born on January 29, 1940 in Rainy River, ON. She grew up on the family farm in Pinewood, ON.

Darlene attended high school in Rainy River, where she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Warner. They married in May 1959. Darlene and Bob lived in Winnipeg, MB before moving to Grande Prairie, AB.

Darlene worked as an Aid in a Neo-Natal Unit in Winnipeg, MB. Upon moving to Grande Prairie, she worked in the bakery at the Co-op Store. In her spare time, she loved her flower gardens, knitting, crocheting, and needle point. Many share a special gift of her talents.

Darlene is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Warner of over 64 years, three children: Jim (Deb), Peggy (Rick), and Lynda, four grandchildren: Katie, Sean, Olivia, and Josie; and great granddaughter Anastasia.

Darlene is predeceased by her parents Frank and Geraldine Smart, and grandson Richard Nicholas Hussey.

A cremation has taken place, there will be no service, as per her request.

The family wishes to thank their cousin Cathy Scott, for her care and compassion, as she visited Darlene at her time at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and the Grande Prairie Care Centre.
