Obituary For Dale Steven Loewen
Dale Steven Loewen, resident of DeBolt, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 65 years.
We, the family and friends of Dale Steven Loewen, are left to cherish him in our hearts, just as we have been cherished by him.
Love never dies, and he made sure that we would have plenty of love to last us forever. We will miss Dale’s hearty laugh and generous nature, and remember his appetites for life, adventure and good times… and he had a lot of them!
Never one to sit still, he explored the world in every possible way. We boated many rivers, travelled, quadded, and camped with our family and very dear friends… and when he decided to learn to fly, it brought the meaning of “adventure” to a whole new level!
Dale lived life on his own terms, and as his wife, I was privileged to share his dreams. He loved running old cats and working in the bush, and building a homestead for his family. His ventures in farming, trucking, logging, and construction culminated in a lucrative career in the oil patch.
Dale took great pride in his work, and enjoyed meeting and working with interesting people in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, and British Columbia. He made quite a mark on the world – literally! – from blowing up an island in the Beaufort Sea, to creating immense oilsands projects in Fort McMurray. I too, was very proud of his accomplishments, when he’d tell me, “I built that road/bridge/log block/lake/well site/yard site… etc.” Even when diagnosed with terminal cancer, what did he do? He took death by the horns and built a successful firewood business, of course!
But Dale’s greatest legacy is his family – his pride in his loving daughters: Holly and Stacie, who have enjoyed their lifelong affection for horses; and son Wade, whose passion lies in the goldfields of the Yukon. Dale made precious memories with his grandchildren as well - Wyatt (who also lives in our hearts), Colten, Jayden, Trystan, and Rory. He hoped that all his loved ones would follow their dreams, find love and contentment, and have wonderful friends, and no regrets.
And I, for one, have no regrets that this amazing man accidentally jumped into bed with me 46 years ago… but that’s another story!
Yours forever, Judy

Hi Judy. So sad to hear of Dales passing. It hardly seems possible to think weâ??ll never hear that great roaring belly laugh again. My kids found Dale quite fascinating and always referred to him as the man with the big laugh. He always appeared to be so happy. I always enjoyed you and him being in my group of friends. Take care my friend as you pass through this new journey in life.

Dear Judy, You will know me from high school as Val Turner. I am so very sorry to hear of Dale's passing. Although I have not seen either of your in many years, I can still see your smile and hear Dale's laugh. I too lost my husband too soon and can tell you that your memories will not always fight off the grief and sadness that will be with you for some time to come. But every now and again, they will bring forth a smile or a chuckle with remembrance of a shared adventure, an often-spoken expression or a really good laugh. Those smiles are the seeds of healing, sewn in the fertile ground of the love you shared. I did not know that you had a Yukon connection, I live in Whitehorse. My e-mail and address are enclosed. When you are feeling up to it, drop me a line. Take best care. Val Jensen
