We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Cynthia Inez Parker

Cynthia Inez Parker (née Fredland), resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the age of 94 at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Cynthia was born on April 14, 1932, in Sexsmith, AB. She was the firstborn of five to Peter and Asbjorg Fredland of LaGlace, AB. Mom attended school in both Northfield and LaGlace.

In 1952, Cynthia married Mel Parker of Crystal Creek. Over the years, they lived in various locations. Mom and Dad were constantly pursing new adventures throughout their lives. Mom greatly enjoyed the outdoors, which included golfing, hunting, fishing, and camping with Dad. She also loved spending her time quilting at the Golden Age Centre and creating other pieces of handiwork. Mom always found joy in the company of others and took pleasure in country drives.

Mom will be sadly missed by her son, Tom (Esther) Parker of Kelowna, BC; daughter Phyllis Parker of Grande Prairie; granddaughter Charlene (Mark) Warkentin of Wembley, AB; grandson Brent (Jenni) Parker of Cold Lake, AB; and great-grandchildren, Kalena, Kaden, and James. She is also survived by her sister, Janet (Glen) Wyant; sisters-in-law Serene and Bonnie Fredland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Mel; sister Lorrine (Bob) Paul; and brothers Wilfred and Brian Fredland.

Mom’s memorial service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grande Prairie (10407-100 St).

In honour of Mom, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada (www.kidney.ca/), the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT (alzheimer.ca/en/ab), or to a charity of one’s choice.

We would like to express special thanks to Dr. Pope and Pastor Begalke for their care of our mother.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
