Obituary For Curtis Lawrence Marth

Curtis Marth, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Wembley, AB, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Mackenzie Place, at the age of 90 years.

Curtis was born on June 13, 1935, in Wembley. He attended school in rural Wembley in a quaint one-room schoolhouse. After he finished Grade 9, he went to work driving log and gravel trucks with his brothers. Curtis eventually went on to obtain his automotive and heavy-duty mechanic education at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). He maintained his career as a mechanic at various automotive shops in Grande Prairie and retired in 2000.

Curtis was a quiet, proud, and genuine man. He was dedicated to his family, his employment, and his community. He had many interests—he loved to camp, fish, hunt, curl in the winter, and garden in the summer. He was also a dedicated Oilers and Blue Jays fan.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Mary Marth; sons Gordon (Lollita) and Dave (Deana); and daughter Kathy. Curtis was the proud grandpa to three granddaughters, Hailey, Amber, and Miranda.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Minnie Marth; son Terry; and his three brothers, Heinz, Werner, and Norman.

A funeral service for Curtis will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for snacks and fellowship in Oliver’s Tea Room. A private interment will be held afterward.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
