In loving memory of Cornelia “Nellie” Petronella Van Den Hoek, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 98 years.

Nellie was born on August 10, 1923, in Oosterhout, Netherlands. She moved to Canada in 1953, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Nellie and her husband John retired in 1986, and enjoyed being snowbirds in Mesa, AZ, until 2014.

Nellie is survived by her loving family; her four children: Valerie (Dennis) Lilley, John Van Den Hoek Jr., Carrie (Rob) Thompson, and Edward (Tammy) Van Den Hoek; four grandchildren: Jodie (Dan) White, Jenelle (Ryan) Haywood, Chad Chuckry, and Shelby (Jesse) Cooling; four great-grandchildren: Kaidence Haywood, Jordan Haywood, Gage Lovlin, and Beau Lovlin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Nellie was predeceased by her husband John, mother, father, three sisters, as well as one brother.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Interment to follow at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St).
