Obituary For Colette Christine Baudais

Colette Christine Baudais, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Guinea, West Africa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Prairie Lake Hospice, at the age of 68 years, after a 14 month journey with cancer.

Colette was born in Prince Albert, SK, and grew up in Thompson, MB. She lived and worked many places throughout British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, until she was called into ministry in West Africa. Colette served with The Christian and Missionary Alliance, from Burkina Faso to Guinea, Colette’s devotion knew no bounds. Through the development of a radio station, healing clinics, an infant rescue centre, prison ministry, women’s cooperative, and other various projects, she brought hope to countless lives. Her ultimate passion was introducing others to the lifegiving love of Jesus Christ.

Colette returned to Canada for her retirement in 2021, and settled in Grande Prairie surrounded by a community of friends. In May, 2022, Colette was diagnosed with cancer after returning from a trip to Quebec. It was then, that Colette’s sister Carol, came to live with her in her little suite and they spent countless hours quilting, drinking Tim Horton’s, thrift shopping, and watching YouTube, until she went to hospice April 13, due to a broken arm. Colette knew this was her final assignment from God and she anticipated with joy meeting Jesus face to face.

Colette is survived by her sisters: Carol Baudais, AnnMarie (Kelly) Merkel, and Georgette (Mark) Komadina; and her nephews: Fred Merkel and Brent Komadina, and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents Philip and Georgina (nee Redl) Baudais.

My deepest sympathy to Colette's family. I met Colette in Guinea. We stayed with mutual friends and shared about our life and testimony of how we gave our lives to our Christ Jesus. I was fascinated to hear about her early life working on Alaska and her involvement in the radio station in Guinea. She struck me as such a faithfu, determined and devoted person. She said she loved everything about Revelation, the Last Days and Israel. Dear Colette is having all her questions answered now. She will so deeply missed on the field and by her Guinean friends whom she lived amongst, loved and served every day for so many years. We praise God for her life. Julie Smout

It was with joyful sadness we received the news that our friend Colette had passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What a welcome she received when she heard Jesus say, " Well done my good and faithful servant..." We became friends with Colette during the time she lived in Saskatoon and began her walk with the Lord. It was both exciting and encouraging to watch the transformation God did in Colette as she grew in her knowledge of and love for Jesus Christ. We were kept abreast of what was happening in her life in Africa through newsletters and visits. Over the last seven months, we were privileged and blessed to be able to spend some time with Colette. Her surrender to and acceptance of God's last assignment for her was a strong and beautiful testimony to her deep and abiding relationship with Jesus. God's faithfulness was so clearly seen as she shared stories with us about her time as a missionary and her journey with cancer. Colette continued to minister to those God brought into her life until the very end. And so Colette we say we love you and appreciate you and have been so blessed by knowing you. Goodbye.... till we meet again. Dan and Connie Saskatoon

Ton Dissibardy Koundouno.

I haven't been able to hold back my tears since I learned of your passing, Beautiful soul . A former student of my late father's Pular language, she was a friend of my family in general and a mother to me in particular. From Labé to Conakry (Guinea), passing through Dara Labé (my home village), I remember the wonderful times we spent together with you Aunt Colette Baudais. She knew me as a child and brought me closer to her by welcoming me into her home throughout my university studies, not to mention our good time together in Tata (Labé- Guinea). She was also my first employer through the private community radio station Familia FM, then Renaissance FM. Ah yes! we shared moments of joy and sadness, as life is made up of. I have always admired and respected this brave woman gifted with great initiatives and good projects. Thank you for being a kind mother to me, a friend to my family and an inspiration to me. Thank you for having contributed to my education and I remain forever grateful to you. Thank you for your support for the people of Guinea. Forever in our hearts Aunt Colette. My condolences to your family, friends and collaborators. Rest in peace my lovely Aunty🥲🥲. MARIAMA BALDE
