Obituary For Cody Allan Johnson

Cody Allan Johnson, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Fort Nelson, BC, unexpectedly passed away Monday, November 22, 2021, in Bezanson, AB, at the young age of 32 years.

Cody’s absence will be felt by many, especially that of his father Rick; girlfriend Gen; brother Tyler (Krystal); niece Lucy; nephews Benjamin and Chase; as well as a large extended family and his many friends.

Cody was born on August 28, 1989, in Vernon, BC. He was the youngest child of Rick and Anita, and the only sibling for older brother Tyler. Soon after his birth, the family made the big move to Fort Nelson, BC, where Cody would spend his childhood. Living in rural BC, Cody fell in love with anything to do with the outdoors, which included hobbies such as atv'ing, dirt-biking, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting with his many great friends who ultimately became more like family.

Cody later moved to Grande Prairie, where he followed in his father and brother's footsteps working in the oil and gas industry. Eventually, Cody would receive his welding certification but was always open to any good job opportunity that came his way. It was in Grande Prairie that Cody met his loving girlfriend Genevieve. They would create a wonderful life together with their pets Felony, Bentley and Mia. They shared many adventures, whether it be a trip to Niagara Falls or sitting at home, they were always laughing. Cody was a dreamer and had endless plans for his future, including his last big dream of eventually moving to BC, living off-grid and creating a hobby farm with his love Gen. This dream would also bring him closer to his dad and brother. Recently Cody had discovered a passion for golf, and the gym had become his second home, likely preparing to beat his dad and brother on the green once he made the move.

Our hearts are still trying to mend from the loss of Cody's mom, Anita, just a few months ago. We find solace in knowing that she was waiting for him with open arms, alongside his grandparents Ted, Lauretta and Wanda.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 10:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Cody’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (12220 104 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8A8), or to your local S.P.C.A.

I will always remember Cody as a happy smiling young man. He always struck me as having a playful attitude and I know he will be missed by all that knew him. It has been a hard time for the family in recent months and here is hoping that the love of the recently lost will keep us all moving forward. Keep strong Rick and Gen. Glen

We have many memories of Cody as he grew up with our son Seth. My fondest is the trip my late husband Ed and I took with Seth and Cody in our motorhome to Drumheller. Stopping to fish at Buckinghorse, telling stories and aweing at the size of the Dinosaurs at the Drumheller museum, the boys were pretty young and full of spirit. Cody was like one of the family to the Haayers, he will be so missed. Theresa
