Obituary For Clarence Raymond Henri Regnier (Ray)

Clarence Raymond Henri Regnier (Ray) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He was born on November 1, 1937, in Bonnyville, Alberta, and lived a full and meaningful life, marked by service, hard work, and a great love for his family.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jean (née Lawrence); his children, Sandy (Andrew) and Ron (Camille); his cherished grandchildren, Addy and Hana; his sister, Linda (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by five sisters and four brothers.

Ray joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1954 at the age of 16 and served his country with dedication for 20 years. His service took him around the world, including two deployments to Egypt with the United Nations Emergency Forces, as well as postings in Germany, Alert Nunavut, Haida Gwaii, and Montreal. A skilled radio technician, Ray earned the respect of those he served alongside.

After leaving the military, Ray began a new career as an electrician. He worked for several companies in the Vancouver area for many years before relocating to Grande Prairie to be closer to his grandchildren. In Grande Prairie, Ray was employed at Canadian Tire, where colleagues remember him as a hard worker with a quick wit, often heard whistling as he worked, and someone who was always willing to lend a hand.

Ray had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing for much of his life. He was always a fan of physical activity and was especially proud of having completed the Sun Run multiple times in his 60s.

Ray was a devoted husband, loving father, proud papa, loyal friend, and valued coworker. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and were fortunate enough to share in his life.

A private family celebration will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray’s memory to Canadian Tire Jumpstart (https://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/pages/donate).
