Obituary For Christina Mary Falk

It is with love and sadness that we share the passing of Christina Falk, resident of Clairmont, AB, formerly of Edmonton and Spirit River, AB on Friday, January 4, 2024 at the age of 56 years.

Chris was born in Spirit River, AB on July 28, 1967, the fifth of six children to Frank and Lorraine Kolosky. She grew up on a farm 20 miles west of Spirit River; a quiet and independent child.

Following the devastating loss of their infant first born son James, Chris and Dan raised their sons Tyler and Carson at their home on Silver Valley Road. Chris and Dan were married on May 12, 1990. Their home was often host to family and friends for gatherings and events associated with the Dusty Valley Race Club, which they created and operated on their land. Chris and Dan separated and would later divorce November, 2000.

Chris moved to Spirit River and worked at the Hotel for seven years. She then moved to Grande Prairie where she worked to earn a Diploma in Business Administration with a Major in Marketing. She continued her studies in the following years and began writing magazine articles, working at the library, completing advanced fiction writing and working with legal office procedures. She was accomplished in her studies and worked at Canadian Tire part time.

In 2005, Chris moved back to Spirit River to manage the Fields store and earned a gold certificate from HBC for her sales achieved in the first year of operation. Following her son Carson’s high school graduation, she moved to Edmonton to pursue writing and other creative interests. Chris worked at several jobs in Edmonton including Notables Stationers, The Paint Spot, security guard at the St. Albert Centre mall, and as a delivery driver. More importantly, Chris was able to pursue her passions and enjoy herself. She was writing novels, poems and other works resulting in several successful publications. An avid reader, she found joy in her life and often volunteered for writing events, music festivals and was able to help those less fortunate.

In August 2022, Chris underwent surgery for a stage 3 malignant brain tumor and then moved to Clairmont to live with her son Tyler. She received further chemotherapy and radiation treatments, yet was eventually able to do some volunteering and become active in the community surrounding Grande Prairie.

Chris leaves behind her sons Tyler and Carson Falk, who she loved completely and is immensely proud of; siblings Nicholas, Margaret, Ronald, Pamela and Michael; as well as several other family and friends who were inspired by her creativity, infectious laughter and fun-loving nature. Chris shared her love of music and writing with many.

May you each remember Christina with love.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 1:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, AB (10005 107 Ave.). A luncheon and social event will follow to include a selection of Christina’s favorite music and some of her reading recommendations.

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Chris’ obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

My sincerest sympathy to her sons Carson and Tyler. Christina was such a caring loving person. She was thoughtful and always made sure to call and sending thoughts to her Father in law Harold Falk. She and Larry always remembered me at Christmas. Such an inspiration she made the very best of her life during her illness. She loved her sons and their care and the devotion to her. Truly a lady that always cared for those friends and family in her life. May she now rest in peace in Gods loving care. Marion Marschall
