Obituary For Charlie Edward Wasowicz

Charlie Edward Wasowicz, resident of Leduc, AB, formerly of Spirit River, AB, passed away from cancer on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Leduc Community Hospital at the age of 74 years.

Charlie was born on January 16, 1952, in Spirit River to Frank and Josie Wasowicz. Charlie was raised on a farm northwest of Spirit River and attended school in the same town. He later ventured on to attend Fairview Agricultural College in Fairview, AB.

Charlie was a tall and spiritual man who worked hard, always to the best of his abilities. His passions were in history and inventions—how they were made and who invented them. He was a tour guide at the Spirit River Museum. He loved to explain the performance of the article he was showing and who invented that article. Charlie was an avid reader and loved westerns by William Johnstone. He would easily get lost in a good novel while sitting in his leather recliner.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Josie Wasowicz; his baby sister, Antonia; both sets of grandparents; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Canada and Poland.

Charlie is survived by his sister, Marjorie (Lynn) Hansen, their son, Shawn Hansen, daughter Melody (Kevin) Nelson and their children, Tanya (Sid) and Vanessa (Jason); his brother, Frank (Roselyn) Wasowicz, their children, Katherine, Jackson, and Elizabeth, and her daughter, Delilah (Kade); and his sister, Valorie (Kris) Rodts, their son, Dexter, and his children, Isaac and Oliver. Charlie also leaves to mourn his cousins in Spirit River, St. Albert, Poland, and South Africa.

The graveside service will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Spirit River Catholic Cemetery.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Rest in peace, our brother. You will always be remembered and always loved.
