We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Calvert Joseph Horseman
We are saddened to announce that Calvert Joseph Horseman, a member of Horse Lake First Nation, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 58 years.
Calvert was born in Beaverlodge, AB, on December 21, 1967. He was a hardworking man with a strong spirit, creative mind, and a personality all his own. Throughout his life, he pursued a variety of hobbies that reflected his talents and passions. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and football. He also had a love for drawing and playing the guitar, as well as working on his vehicles. These interests were an important part of his life and remain among the many memories his family will continue to cherish.
As his children, we will always remember our dad for who he was and for the place he held in our lives. He was a significant part of our family, and his life helped shape the people we have become. His passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express, and we will forever cherish the experiences we shared together.
Although this loss leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts, the impact of his life does not end here. His memory will live on through his children, our family, and the stories and experiences we continue to share. The place he holds in our family can never be filled, and the precious times we had together will remain a part of our legacy.
Calvert will be deeply missed by his wife, Sheila Wilson; his children, Ali, Brayden, Sara, Brittany, Crysta, Jeanine, Jenessa, Brianna, Tyra, Cashtin, Craytin, Calvert Jr., and Conin; and his grandchildren, Steven Jr., Caleb, Issac, Samuel, Paizlee, Rielle, Kylee, Zendaya, Adam, Brilee, Haylee, Kali, Phoenix, Myles, Marshall, Maverick, Markus, Mary-Jane, Kinsley, Zayden, Greyson, and Ivan.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mavis; his father, Frank; his daughter, Blaire; and his brothers, Garret and Darrin.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005-107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room.
As we remember Calvert, we honour his life, the interests that brought him joy, and the lasting connection he will always have with us. He will forever be remembered as our dad, and we will continue to carry his memory with us throughout our lives.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever our dad.
