Obituary For Brent Loewen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brent Loewen, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, on Friday, July 23, 2021, in Grande Prairie, at the young age of 54 years.

Brent was born in Creston, BC, on June 29, 1967, to Jean and Cliff Loewen. He was raised in DeBolt, AB, and attended Ridgevalley School. After leaving school, he worked alongside his brothers, Dale, and Randy, operating heavy equipment until he decided to give the oilfield a go. Brent worked in the oilfield for over 30 years. He took great pride in his work and was always the first to arrive and the last to leave. He worked out in the field, as a manager and was part owner in Peerless Production Testing & Rentals. A few years ago, he decided to return to operating heavy equipment.

Brent was larger than life Often being the life of the party, his laugh and his crow calls could be heard for miles. Brent had a way of making long-lasting friendships with ease, with most of his friends becoming family. He loved and was loved by many. Brent met the love of his life, Leanne, in 1992, and they were married in 1993. Their family expanded to include their two beautiful daughters Jennifer and Allie. Brent loved the outdoors. His spare time was spent camping, quading, sledding, fishing, biking, and golfing. Spending time with family was very important to Brent, he always said that he can’t have only one of anything since there were four of us, so he made sure there were 4 quads, skidoos, and so on. Many summers were spent camping at Muserau Lake where friends and families would often join us. Most days started with a pancake breakfast and being on the boat by noon. He enjoyed taking all the kids out tubing, swimming, and waterskiing until it was time to come in for supper. Cooking was another passion of his, often having friends and family over to enjoy his latest creations.

Brent will be greatly missed by his wife Leanne Loewen; daughters Jennifer Loewen and Allie Loewen; son Jeremy Doucette; mother Jean Weber; sisters Dorothy (Al) Gonci, and Kathy Monnette; brother Randy (Lois) Loewen; sister in-law Judy Loewen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was predeceased by his father Cliff Loewen, stepmother Stella Loewen, as well as his brother Dale Loewen.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Owanga, the Grande Prairie Homecare staff, and the staff at Prairie Lake Hospice for the kind and compassionate care he received.

Condolences

Sorry for your loss, Loewen family. I got a start in the oilfield at the same company Brent worked at. He was a man you respected and you knew when he wanted things done. That goes without saying for a lot of oilfield workers in my experience. However, Brent did have a fun, joking side which I really appreciated and was rare at that time. His laughter was large! He will be missed.

Very sad and sorry to hear of Brent's passing. Condolences, thoughts and prayers to the entire family. Brent was like an older brother when I got into the industry and moved to GP. Sadly it has been a few years since I've been able to get back. Unfortunately I am overseas and will not be able to attend but Brent and the family certainly have been and will be in my heart and in my thoughts posted by Roger Bergum

Thinking of all of you! RIP Buddy! posted by Clinton Tranter : I knew Brent since school days at Ridgevalley School. I worked for Brent on a few occasions and we played together on many others! I will never forget wheeling him out of the hospital and down the Aberdeen Pub back when he broke his hip! That made his day, as he was getting pretty down after being laid up for so long. I won't mention what we were doing when Dr Sensziak drove by ...lol. My sincerest condolences, I wish I could attend but I will not be able to. My thoughts are with you and all of Brent's friends and family. : Jul 29, 2021
