Obituary For Boyd Allen Kobe

Boyd was born in Edmonton, AB, on March 29, 1972. He struggled during his first month of life after undergoing a major surgery. He then came home, fully recovered, and just grew from there. After a brief stint in Edmonton, he moved to Regina, SK, where he spent his preschool years. He later moved back to the Valleyview area with his family and had been in Alberta ever since.

Boyd started his first two years of schooling at the Winnifred Stewart School in Edmonton, staying in a big, happy family home. On weekends, he spent time with his aunt, Esther Fuller, and on long weekends and holidays, he flew home, courtesy of Time Air. When Winnifred Stewart shut down, he began attending Crystal Park School in Grande Prairie, AB, and lived with Larry and Marsha Armstrong. He graduated from Grande Prairie Composite High School and started his adult life under the guidance of Signature Services. There he met his sweetheart, Tricia Cramer. They were engaged for about 13 years before marrying in 2011.

For the next 14 years, they lived a happy, productive, busy life. When time took its toll in August 2024, Boyd was moved to the Grande Prairie Care Centre, as he required more medical attention. Then, sadly, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, he peacefully gave up his struggle with many family members at his side.

Boyd was one of the happiest people, no matter what he was doing—sitting at home, travelling, camping, playing games with friends or family, dinner outings (a simple soup or a Christmas dinner—he loved his food). He also enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together, music, dancing, and karaoke.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Tricia Cramer (Grande Prairie); parents Betty and Wayne Kobe (Grande Prairie); brothers Trevor Kobe (Valleyview) and Thomas Kobe (Calgary); Tricia’s family and the Armstrong family; as well as many, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Boyd was predeceased by his brother, Carl Valentine Kobe (Calgary), and father-in-law, Charlie Cramer (Grande Prairie).

A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp He Ho Ha – Camp Health, Hope and Happiness (53537 Range Road 55, Seba Beach, AB, TOE 2BO / 780 429-3277) or the Canadian Down Syndrome Society (Suite 103, 2003 14 St. NW, Calgary, AB, T2M 3M4).

My sincere condolences to family - Uncle Wayne, Auntie Betty, cousins Tom, Trevor and pre-deceased Valen. I will always have his image dressed in a white high collered Elvis suit and his neverending love for his near and dear people, embedded in my mind. Dear Lord, keep him close, you will not be disappointed.

Boyd was always a man of joy and happiness, I will miss his smile and his sense of humor. He loved Tricia and I was so happy when they got married. He will be missed on Earth but I know he is with Jesus now.

Boyd was such a joy. My fondest memory is he came into my place of work on a very busy Friday with a line up out the door he yells out, "Hello ladies!" I have missed seeing him at Joy chapel over the years! We will miss you friend! Rest in the arms of Jesus my friend.
