Obituary For Bonnie Priscilla Hatch

Bonnie Priscilla Hatch, a longtime resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 79. Bonnie lived a full and meaningful life. She remained active and engaged with those she loved, even after being diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. While she faced health challenges in her later years, she continued to cherish time spent with her family and found joy in the everyday moments that mattered most to her.

Bonnie was born on December 3, 1946, in Saskatoon, SK. She was raised in Norquay, SK, alongside her parents, Elmer and Evelyn Anderson; her two older brothers, Wesley and Max; and her older sister, Beverly. In 1959, the family moved to Grand Centre, AB.

On September 21, 1963, Bonnie married Wayne Hatch. In 1964, they moved to Yellowknife, NWT, where they built a life filled with adventure and lasting memories while raising their three daughters, Cathy, Tina, and Tammy.

During her years in Yellowknife, Bonnie worked for a mobile catering company and later, for the Government of the Northwest Territories as an office worker. She always spoke fondly of this chapter of her life, having made many lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply. In 1974, Bonnie and Wayne moved to Grande Prairie, where Bonnie worked at Diamond Catering and then at Telus in construction, shipping, and receiving.

Bonnie was the heart and matriarch of her family, strong-willed, opinionated, and unwavering once her mind was made up. She loved being at the center of family life and was never shy about offering advice when she felt it was needed. In her younger years, Bonnie was always ready for a celebration. She loved camping, rodeos, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, she had a deep love for animals. Over the years, she shared her life with many pets, and when animals could not be inside the home, she took great joy in those outdoors on their acreage—the horses, swans, and even a small squirrel she insisted Wayne feed every morning just outside the patio door so she could watch.

Bonnie will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 62 years, Wayne Hatch; her three children, Cathy (François) Vani, Tina Hatch, and Tammy (Andre) Ouellette; her four grandchildren, Keifer (Caitlin) Ouellette, Jordana (Dean) Lloyd, Kenzie (Evan) Harke, and Madeline (Tyler) Larsen; and her great-grandchildren, Andi Lloyd, Beck Harke, and Miller Lloyd, along with her step-great-granddaughter, Devon Ash-Scali. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Wesley (Tilda) Anderson and Max (Janice) Anderson, as well as many extended family members, dear friends, and acquaintances.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Evelyn Anderson; her sister, Beverly Cooper; and her granddaughters, Heather Hatch and Hannah Ouellette.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Interment will immediately follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84 Ave and 112 St). All are welcome to attend. Following the interment, all are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Sargent Family Kidney Care Centre (https://gphospitalfoundation.ca/donate/).

Bonnie lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
