Obituary For Beverley "Bev" Joyce Marshall

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverley Joyce Marshall, resident of Wembley, AB, on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital, the age of 60 years.

Bev was born November 5, 1961, the first born of Eric and Barb Hodges. She grew up on the Hodges’ Farm of the Albright, AB, area. She went to the University of Alberta where she earned her Home Economics Degree (1983), followed by her Education Degree (1986). She married Robert “Bob” Marshall of Tofield, AB, in 1987. They lived most of their married life with their kids on their acreage outside of Wembley.

Bev impacted countless students, staff, and families over her extended teaching career at Wembley Elementary School. When Bev wasn’t teaching, you could find her at the curling rink, working in her garden, crocheting everything possible, solving word puzzles, and playing with her granddaughter.

Bev is survived by her loving husband of 34 years Bob; son Josh (Kylie) Marshall; daughter Cassandra (Tayler) Lussier and their child Madeline; mother Barb Hodges; brother Darrell (Trudy) Hodges; brother Keith (Kerriley) Hodges; as well as cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving her is her sister in-law Debbie (Alvin) Anderson; brother in-law Brady (Michelle) Marshall; as well as Aunt Marj-Velve.

She is predeceased by her dad Eric Hodges; very close cousin Leonard; as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Clow and the nurses at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Bev and her family. They would also like to thank Dr. Schepansky and Dr. Grendarova for their dedication and attentiveness. Finally, thank you to Kathy O’Connell, Melissa Janssen, and the rest of the palliative care team for their guidance and kindness during this time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 1:00pm, at the Source Energy Arena and Recreation Centre in Wembley. Reception to follow at Wembley Elementary School.

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Bev’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

The family asks for those who attend the service that you consider wearing purple, snowmen and/or ladybug clothes. The more the better!

I was lucky to work with Bev in the Wembley Schools for many years. All three of my children had Mr. Marshall as their grade 3 teacher. She was a wonderful person who loved what she did as a career. Her and Bob and their kids were great neighbours for many years. We will all miss her smile and witty sense of humour. Rest In Peace Bev.
