Obituary For Bernard Hunke

Bernard Hunke, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Valleyview, AB, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 15, 2021, at the age of 54 years.

Bernard was born and raised in Valleyview. After leaving high school and autobody training, he decided to go and work on the service rigs. Over the 25 years that he worked in the oil field, he enjoyed the camaraderie of his co-workers and the interesting places that his work would take him. Bernard met his wife Sherri, in Valleyview and a few years later they moved to Grande Prairie. They have two children, Brynna and Macleod.

Bernard loved coming home from work to spend time with his family. He also spent his free time playing one of his many guitars, tinkering with electronics, and dabbling in woodwork. Bernard had a passion to create - from intricate metal and wood models, to restoring a beloved guitar.

Bernard will be sadly missed by his wife Sherri of 23 years; his children Brynna and Macleod. He will also be missed by many other family members and friends.

Bernard was predeceased by his mother Viktoria Hunke and father Ignatz Hunke; as well as his mother in-law Doris Wearden and his father in-law Robert Wearden.

Cremation will take place, and a memorial service may be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.
