We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Bernadette F. Shaw

Bernadette F. Shaw, resident of Grovedale, Alberta, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the GPRH at the age of 61.

Bernadette was born in Spirit River, Alberta, on November 16, 1964. She grew up in Grovedale, a place she held close to her heart. After a short time living in Grande Prairie in her younger years, she eventually returned to Grovedale, where she loved the quiet country life. There, she raised her two children, Travis and Kaye-Lani. Travis, her first-born who she was very proud of, enjoyed the country life just like his mom. He built himself a life in Beaverlodge with his wife, Kyla, and their three sons, who were Bernie’s pride and joy: Kason, Krew, and Turner.

Bernie loved life, always looking forward to family gatherings, spending time with friends, and never passing up the opportunity to travel with her daughter, Kaye-Lani. She loved Kaye-Lani very much and lived with her for the last few years after her life-altering surgery. She also loved her grand-puppies (Doops), Rubble and Fendi.

Bernie will be sadly missed by her children, Travis (Kyla) and Kaye-Lani; grandchildren Kason, Krew, and Turner; grand-dogs Rubble and Fendi; and siblings Virginia, Jack, Denise, and Valentina.

She was predeceased by her parents, Denis and Florence Shaw; brother Richard Shaw; and nephew Dwight Shaw.

The viewing will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005-107 Ave). A private family gathering will be held in celebration of Bernie’s life.
