Obituary For Barbara Bateman
Barbara Bateman, born April 22, 1956 in Winnipeg, MB left us way too soon at the age of 59 on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, while residing temporarily in Douglas, Arizona.
She is survived by her beloved husband Dwayne, who remained the love of her life for over 32 years. Their life journey took them into an adventure of love that explored the world geographically, socially, culturally and spiritually. She is survived by her daughter Joleen and son Kennan of Grande Prairie. Her grandchildren Andrew, Colby, Presley and Zoey meant the world to their cherished grandmother, “Tutu”. She is also survived by her mother Claudette McGee of Edmonton and siblings Bruce McGee (Georgeann McInerney) of Canmore, Danielle Nichols of Sherwood Park, Fr. Mark McGee of Grande Cache, Fr. Kevin McGee of Saskatoon, Colin McGee (Laurie) of Sherwood Park and Susan McGee of Edmonton; and Dwayne’s siblings from Calgary: Susan, Brian, Jack, Larry and Donna. She will be sadly missed by a large extended family of numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, an uncle and caring in-laws.
Barb was a warm and loving person who was always ready to greet others with a hug that expressed total acceptance and unconditional love. To those who loved her, Barb was a source of strength and support, our “rock”. Though often quiet, her love was strong, and in this way she helped make this world a better place.
Barb was predeceased by her Father Stuart McGee (1974), brother Darren McGee (1982), Darren’s son Jason (1981) and step-brother Glen (Pat) McGee.
A Prayer Vigil service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 7:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
The Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 at 12:30pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.), followed by interment at the Grande Prairie Cemetery, officiated by Barb’s brothers, Fr.’s Mark and Kevin McGee.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Barb will be missed, but I have many fond memories of the few (but seemed like many) times we spent together in Grande Prairie, Edmonton and Toronto. Barb had a wonderful spirit and I looked up to her. Gone too soon, life is too short and I will have the constant reminder that I lost a wonderful friend and cousin and will live each moment to the fullest. Love you much and see you sin heaven! Barb is still to me the most kind and lovely lady. When Barb devoted her time to family and grandchildren Dwayne(normally working at job site) only counted the days before she would return to be received. She was the most adventurous girl and always kept the home fires burning. I think of Barb daily and Dwayne I feel for you brother. Kennan and Joleen, you have an amazing family, the memory of your mom must be remarkable. Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of Barb, we will all miss her greatly.

Dear Susan, borrowed some of these words in hoping that they might bring you & yours some comfort during this terrible loss. A Sister ......She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she's the reason you wish you were an only child! Rainbows take many forms. Multiple bows, bows that cross, red bows, twinned bows, colored fringes, dark bands, spokes and more. Heavenly & beautiful, wishing you and yours an array of rainbows to remind you that after the passing of the storm, there is true beauty left. Condolence's to you and you family Warm hugs Valerie
