Obituary For Audrey Elnora Galway

Audrey Galway (Ward), resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 91 years.

Audrey was born in 1934 on a farm near Esther, AB. At the age of nine, she moved to Youngstown, AB, and completed her schooling there. From 1953 to 1956, she took her Registered Nursing training at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, AB. In July 1956, she moved to Grande Prairie and worked as a general duty nurse for one year before moving to the operating room, where she worked for the rest of her career (mostly as the head nurse), until her retirement in 1979. Audrey married Paul Galway in September of 1958, and they raised two daughters.

Throughout her life, she had many interests and hobbies. She was a member of the Grande Prairie Kinette Club and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, as well as for the QEII Hospital. She enjoyed travelling, reading, playing golf, doing puzzles, and spending time with her valued circle of friends.

Audrey will be sadly missed by her daughters, Cory Galway and Maureen Galway (Scott Palmer), and her grandchildren, Daelin Nordmark (Aysu) and Bryn Nordmark.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Galway; her brother, Durward (Dewey) Ward; and her parents, Elsworth and Doris Ward.

No memorial service will be held; however, in honour of Audrey, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (https://www.heartandstroke.ca/) or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Our condolences to the Cory and Maureen. We have many fond memories of our times spent with Paul and Audrey over the years at Kinsmen and K-40 functions. Most recently it has been at breakfast on Sunday mornings as we tended to end up at the same restaurant. Gail spent a few coffee klatches with Audrey and the Kinette group. There were many other times earlier in life when Paul and Audrey were good neighbors to the Soars family on 109 Ave. They are missed
