Obituary For Aubrey Pardy

In Loving Memory

With deep sadness and hearts full of love, we announce the passing of Aubrey Pardy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Aubrey was born in Grand Bank, Newfoundland, on December 20, 1955, to Dora Ellen and Charles Pardy. He grew up in Harbour Mille, where he learned the meaning of hard work at an early age, fishing alongside his father and eldest brother, Charlie. Aubrey deeply admired Charlie and treasured the memories they made together, often sharing stories of their younger years.

As the brothers grew older, they travelled across the provinces in search of work. Aubrey’s journey eventually brought him to Grande Prairie, Alberta, where he and his wife, Esther, put down roots and raised their three daughters, April, Shannon, and Adrienne. He and his youngest brother, John, purchased a duplex together and lived side by side for many years, keeping family close even so far from their Newfoundland home. Though distance separated him from his beloved sister, Phyllis, she remained close to his heart, and he looked forward to spending time with her right up until his final days.

For more than 40 years, the pulp mill was Aubrey’s second home. Through its many changes, he built countless cherished friendships and became known for his quick wit, a good joke, and his willingness to stop for a chat. He retired in June 2026, just four months before his passing. Those who knew him understood that he would have happily stayed at the mill forever, had his legs allowed it.

Aubrey was a strong, hardworking man with a kind heart and an open door. He welcomed people without judgment, found joy in conversation, and offered help whenever he could. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he had just met, Aubrey always had time for you.

He adored animals, loved a good steak, time at the cabin, and sports cars. But nothing brought Aubrey greater joy than his grandchildren. Eric, Lacey, Charlie, Parker, Clare, and Tristan held the most precious place in his heart. He often said that life would not be worth living without little children in the world, and the love he had for them was incomparable.

Aubrey leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Esther; daughters, April, Shannon (John), and Adrienne (Philip); his treasured grandchildren, Eric, Lacey, Charlie, Parker, Clare, and Tristan; and his beloved siblings, Phyllis, Charlie, and John, along with their families. He will also be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, friends at the pulp mill, and the countless people whose days were made brighter because he stopped to share a laugh or a conversation.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Dora Ellen Pardy.

A celebration of Aubrey’s life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005-107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room.

For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be livestreamed. The link will be available shortly before the service begins.

Aubrey’s warmth, humour, and generous heart will live on in the stories we tell and the memories we hold close. Above all, he will be remembered for the love he gave so freely and the way he made people feel welcome.

While every effort is made to ensure a smooth livestream, technical or broadcast issues may occasionally occur beyond the control of Oliver’s Funeral Home.
