Obituary For Arthur Lipon

Art Lipon, resident of Saskatoon Lake, AB, formerly of Regina, SK, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018, at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 76 years.

Art was born on a farm in Stonehenge, SK on November 3, 1941. He and his brother Bill were raised in Regina. In 1965, he met Lois Skoagman. They married on August 27, 1966. In 1969, they moved to the west side of Saskatoon Lake where Art shared 42 wonderful years with Lois, and 9 more alone, but not without passion. He taught Machine Shop and many other classes in Grande Prairie for 26 years. Art loved working with both mechanical and living things and started a Winery in the last 5 years of his life which included “Grandpa’s Home Brew” and “Fortified Saskatoon Wine”. He was a very driven man who lived life his own way. He was looking forward to meeting Lois again.

Art is survived by his son Gigi (Beverly) and grandchildren: Zoe and Maya; son James (Cynthia) and grandchildren: Lucia, Remi, and Quincy; son Gary (Laura) and grandson Emery.

He was predeceased by his wife Lois Lipon, and his parents George and Tillie Lipon.

Interment to follow at Lake Saskatoon Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation (10409 98 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2E8).

The QEII Hospital provided excellent support and service in the last years of Art’s life. The family would also like to thank Dr. Lewis, Dr. Vinash and all of the fine physicians, nurses and support staff that looked after Dad over the years.

Art was a great guy. We enjoyed visiting with Art at the farmers market and on his acreage. He always made us feel welcome. We got to know Art quite well while helping out with the Saskatoon operation. Art loved to chat and enjoyed a good chuckle. Art will be missed.
