Annie Boychuk, resident of Woking, Alberta, passed away at the Fairview Long Term Care Facility on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the age of 96 years.

Annie was born in Vilkorita, White Russia, on December 12, 1929. She, together with her family, immigrated to Canada in July 1937. They settled down in Woking. Annie started school in the Saddle Mountain area in the Spirit River District #47. There she completed sixth grade, and that was the end of her education. Later, she worked in Woking.

On November 7, 1947, Annie married John Boychuk. Annie and John started farming nine miles east of Woking. They farmed there until they retired and moved to Rycroft, Alberta, on October 7, 1989.

Annie was predeceased by her father, Dmitri Bakuniuk; her mother, Martha (Bakuniuk) Chewuk; her husband, John; and her daughter, Katherine, and son-in-law, David Rowe.

Annie is lovingly remembered by her sons, Fred (Sandy) and Dmitri (Marianne); grandchildren Aaron and Kerry Rowe, Ken (Julie) Boychuk, Melisa (Brice) Bowling, and Angela (Ryan) Asp; as well as great-grandchildren Anna-Maria, Victoria, Alexandria Asp, and Jullian Bowling. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Irene, and numerous extended family members.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, Alberta (10005 107 Ave), preceded by a viewing at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room. After the luncheon, Annie will be laid to rest at the Greenway Cemetery in Rycroft.
