Obituary For Anne Helen Patrick
It is with heavy hearts we announce that our mother, Anne Patrick (Lichtner), passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at Prairie Lake Nursing Home in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 89 years.
Anne was the third of seven children born to Frank and Pauline Lichtner of North Star, AB. She had many fond memories of her childhood growing up on the farm in North Star. Mom attended Rosary School in Manning, AB. She enjoyed living in a small community where she knew many people. Mom often told us that she had a lot of fun in high school. She loved playing sports and going to dances with her siblings on the weekends.
In 1956, after completing high school, Anne went to college at Fairview School of Agriculture and Home Economics. Mom often talked about how she overcame her shyness and loved her time at Fairview Ag College. In the Home Economics courses, she learned how to cook, sew, and do secretarial duties.
After college, Anne worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Higa in Grande Prairie. On December 28, 1960, Anne married Harry Patrick. Harry and Anne moved to the family farm, where they raised their children and eventually retired in Grande Prairie. Mom enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and oil painting. She was an active member of Artists North for many years. Mom’s Catholic faith was very important to her and had been instilled by her parents. She attended mass regularly and was a proud member of the St. Joseph’s parish. Most of her close friends she had met through the church.
Anne is survived by her four children: Roxanne DeBlois (Lawrence), Blaine Patrick (Donna), Sean Patrick (Katrina), and Evan Patrick (Heather). Grandchildren: Patrick DeBlois (Michelle), Corey DeBlois (Caitlin), Keaton DeBlois (Amber), Chelsea Belcourt (Tayler), Derrick Moon (Dena), Broghan Patrick (Dustin), Austin Patrick, Riley Patrick, Kayley Patrick, Jasper Patrick, Jameson Patrick, Kacy Patrick, Harrison Patrick, and Ewan Patrick. Great-grandchildren: Aster DeBlois, Avery DeBlois, Perri DeBlois, Elliotte DeBlois, Margot DeBlois, Jessie Belcourt, Skyler Belcourt, Oliver Moon, and Raylan Moon. Siblings: Willie Lichtner (Joyce), Frank Lichtner Jr. (Donna), brother-in-law Dennis Grant, Irene Durand, and Emily Kinnee (Lorne). Anne is also missed by many cherished nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law Pat Olson and Muriel Garrett, and brother-in-law Victor Patrick.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, Pauline and Frank Lichtner; her sister, Mary Luck, and husband William Luck; sister Elizabeth Grant; and brother-in-law Leroy Durand.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pearson Place in Hythe and at Prairie Lake Seniors Community for the love and care that Mom received.
A mass and celebration of Anne’s life will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St). After mass, please join Anne’s family for lunch and fellowship from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Tranquille Hall at St. Joseph’s Church.
If you wish to make a donation in Anne’s name, please give to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (www.saintjoseph.ca/donate/) or to a charity of your choice.
