Anna Sopkow passed away peacefully at Beaverlodge Hospital on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the age of 89, supported in her final moments.

Anna “Ducky” Sydoruk was born on June 4, 1936, on the Volin Homestead near Rycroft, Alberta, to her parents, Moses and Marfa, the seventh of nine children. Anna married Sidney Sopkow in 1955, and they resided in the Spirit River (Devale) area. After Sid’s passing in 1989, she remained in Spirit River until 1994, when she moved to Grande Prairie. In 2025, she moved into Pearson Place Hythe.

Anna leaves behind her sister, Vicky Silk, and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, Sid; her parents, Moses and Marfa; her brothers, Mathew, Nick, and William; and her sisters, Emily McLellan, Sophie Bosomworth, Olga Jacobs, and Helen McLeod.

A graveside service at the Ksituan Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
