Allan gave me my first job - as a teenager, he hired me on a work experience program. I had known Allan my entire life through church and family friendships. Working for Allan was the most fun! I had no idea work wasn't supposed to be like that, but we laughed all day long. Stephen was also working for Allan at the time as Allan gave us both opportunities to learn and work (he was like that). I never saw him angry and I will always remember Allan for his sense of humour, kindness and compassion. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

My condolences to the family on the passing of Allan. I have a few memories of spending time with Allan in his home when we lived in Grande Prairie, and he was always so welcoming and friendly. But my first and strongest memory is him rescuing me when I was swimming as a teenager in the Little Smoky river. I was struggling in a strong current and he had me hang on to him and then he swam all the way across tp the shore. He was very exhausted when he got me there safely. So, I am grateful for him being there that day for me! Ramona Swift-Thiessen

Ramona and I had the privilege of knowing Allan since he was 9 or 10 years old. This was when we were pastoring the Church in the village of Dixonville. That particular Spring, the Andersons gave us permission to plant a garden on their farm. Things were going well until suddenly, the pigs broke out of their pen, causing a lot of havoc. Esther sent her older children to find and bring them back. The pigs would not cooperate, and a frustrated Allan finally just sat down and cried. His Mother went over to him and said "Don't cry. They will come back when they get hungry." Throughout the years Allan has been an example of excellent character and integrity. Quiet by nature, much like that of his Father, he had a special sense of humor. He could always be depended upon to be at church,, youth camps, conventions and functions at Deer Valley Meadows. His presence and participation was enjoyed and appreciated. Allan always treated others with kindness and respect. His was a familiar face at the Grande Prairie Mall where he worked in the 'Eye Care' business; performing with excellence as usual. We feel great sadness that Allan departed this life earlier than expected. But, as Jesus said in John 11:25, "Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying." Allan is more alive now than he ever was and some glad day we shall join him.
