Obituary For Aileen Mary Grimsrud

With great sadness, the family of Aileen Mary Grimsrud announces her passing on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the age of 85 years.

Aileen was born on August 10, 1936. The first child to Herbert and Bernice Andrews in Swift Current, SK. Aileen’s father was a poultry inspector, and her mother was a teacher. She spent many hours in her youth in singing lessons and playing the piano. At the time, the junior choir was the main choir for the United Church every Sunday, where she was a passionate participant. Aileen loved to sing.

In Aileen’s later years she could be found in many clubs and organizations volunteering her time. She made many friends through her time with the Saskatoon Lake Ag Society, Oil Wives, Desk and Derrick Club, and the Forbes Presbyterian Church. Aileen filled her days making quilts. She was always making a quilt for someone, which she proudly had to show you when you came for a visit. It may have been for a niece, a nephew, a new baby in the family, or her grandchildren. If she ran out of family to make one for, she was donating quilts to newborns at the QEII Hospital and many children of the church.

Aileen always had to be up to date on the latest fashions, and she loved a fashion show. If she wasn’t in the fashion show, she was in the back dressing the models, and later on, making sure she attended all the fashion shows in and around the area.

Aileen loved being out and about and a member of the community. She was generous with her time to everyone and loved people. She enjoyed, tea and happy hour, lunch with the ladies, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Aileen will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.

Aileen is survived by her 3 children: Fiona Addy (Richard) (Nicole, Hayley), Alex Gustafson (Alison) (Joah, Jorja), and Murray Gustafson (Cara Braden). Brother Jacklin Andrews (Wendy) and nephews: (Colin and Leanna, Kaelan, Ava) (Kaare and Nicole Casey, Parker, Sailor) (Raelynn Sloan) (Brock and Shannon Lennon, Hartley). Her sister Audrey’s family: Kathy Mogg (Harry) (Jonathon and Nancy Mogg, Leander, Erica) (Robert Mogg) (Emilie and Matthew Foss, Landon, Tyson, Emmett, Riley) (Benjamin and Emily Mogg) (Jeremy Mogg) (Chip and Francine Erickson) (Garrett and Sara). Her husband Art’s family: Coleen Douglas (Dave), Eric Gustafson; grandchildren: Travis, (Trish), Dannielle, Tyler, Victoria, and Mandy; great-grandchildren: Sady, Olivia, Vince, Annie, Kendall, Colin, and Cam; and great great-grandchild Amelia. Her husband Roy’s family: daughter Bev Murray (Charles), grandchild Sherrie (Norm) Abrahamsz, great-grandchildren Jonathon and Nathan, grandchild Kelly (Kari), great-grandkids Kaisley, and Kylyn; daughter Deb Winters (Les,), and grandkids Tyler, and Patrick; daughter Sandra Grimsrud and grandkids Ryan, Deihl, and Jasmine Grimsrud-Perro.

Aileen was predeceased by her husband Art Gustafson of 17 years; sons: Bryan, Clare, and Mike; husband Roy Grimsrud of 21 years; sister Audrey Erickson (Milt); as well as nephew Kaz Andrews and granddaughter, Anna Ireland. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 11:00am, at Forbes Presbyterian Church in Grande Prairie (9635 76 Ave). Luncheon to follow.
