Together in Healing – Monthly Grief Support Group

Join us on the third Thursday each month from 6:30–7:30 pm.  Central Peace Health Centre – Boardroom (Suite 100, 4410 – 50 Street, Spirit River, AB), for a gentle, supportive space for anyone 12 and older. Hosted by Kimberly Talmey from Kimberly Talmey Counselling Inc., this free gathering offers a place to connect, share, and find comfort alongside others who understand.

Pre-registration is required to ensure a peaceful and welcoming environment for all. (Coffee and Tea will be provided)

Night’s Discussion: “When Grief and Trauma Overlap”

Grief and trauma can sometimes feel very similar — but they can also affect us in different ways. During this month’s Together in Healing session, we will gently explore the differences between prolonged/complex grief and trauma responses such as PTSD, while creating space for conversation, connection, and understanding.

Some experiences of grief may involve:

• Intense longing or yearning
• Feelings of emptiness
• Difficulty adjusting to life after loss
• Feeling as though part of your identity has changed

Trauma responses may look different and can include:

• Fear-based reactions
• Avoiding reminders of painful events
• Feeling constantly on edge or unsafe
• Emotional overwhelm connected to a specific experience

Together, we will discuss how grief and trauma can sometimes intertwine, how they may show up in daily life, and gentle ways to care for ourselves through both.
